Uluru and Kata Tjuta or Ayers Rock and the Olgas

This is the most exciting experience we' ve had so far. We were not sure if it is worth it to fly about six hours for only two days, but we had amazing days here.
Although it was about 36 degrees, we managed to have some short walks and saw beautiful details. I thought that the Uluru simply was a great red rock. On the contrary we saw a lot of details like a waterhole, paintings and got to know something about Aborigene culture and lifestyle.
The highlight was a helicopter flight this afternoon and the sunset.
Just have a look yourself:

Finishing Great Ocean Road with 2 days at Port Fairy

What a lovely and nice, peaceful place: lying on a lands end, with the Moyne River mouth, a little island at the top, fisher boats, yachts and sailing boats in the river habour where we look at from our bedroom in Oscars Waterfront Hotel.

That's where we observe first time in Australia cangorous!

From Port Fairy we go inland back to Melbourne. The ride through rural Aussieland is also a pretty experience: thousands of cows and sheep, alleys with huge green trees, roads with minimal traffic, now and then huge trucks.

Back in Melbourne/Williamstown we have a beautiful sunny evening to say good by to this city.

Next morning we have to get up at 5 am in the morning to be on time for our flight to Ayers Rock via Sidney, with a time difference of 1,5 hours back and a flight time in total of ca. 6 hours.

Great Ocean Road

How to start? Nature on this part of our tour is so grandiose, that it is difficult to describe. First ca. 1 hour drive out of Melbourne and Geelong, then the scenic part begins, with a road, following on the left side the wonderful coastline, on the right side accompanied by soft hills. We do several stops, beginning in Torquay, a small sleepy village with nice beach, where we urgently need a coffee, as I tend to fall asleep, jet lag not yet finished! All others we better show in pictures:

A class doing surf course as school sports!

Erskin waterfall in the rainforest.

Huge trees!

...and gigantic fern:

And here our first Koala, sleeping in a eucalyptus tree, as they do 20 hours a day.

And a dead eucalyptus forest, which endangers the life of koalas. But nobody really understands the reasons for this tree death.

This evening we arrive at Apollo Bay and stay overnight at Clearwan Retreat, which is a very lovely place on top of a hill over Apollo Bay. It's a pity that the weather is foggy and cold, so we leave directly next morning. And then the even more picturesque part begins:
