Rockhampton, called Rocky

Next day, after some organizational tasks as picking the clothes from the laundry and sending a fax by the Australian Post home (which took as long as in our German post offices, as there was a long queue), we start to our 450 km drive to Rocky. Not much to say about the drive, it is boring, as you see for hours only forests and bush. Just one photo from a break in the little town Childers:

We arrive at our B&B at 5 pm. It is a very nice typical Queensland home built 1884 completely from wood. Carefully renovated, but with many historic elements, it is an impressing house.

Before going for dinner to a steak restaurant (of course steak, because Rocky calls itself capital of beef, as there is in important regular cattle auction and many beef farms around), we spend some time in the pretty botanic garden. When we leave the house to go for dinner we see a lovely moon. It is a moon eclipse and the moon looks quite orange.

The next morning starts with a good Continental brekky on the porch. We plan to drive to a famous lookout called Mount Archer and then to the Dreamtime Center or Heritage village.
We stop at Stockland shopping mall and stay there for a very long time, unfortunately.
Our camera did not work properly and we thought we could get it settled in a special camera store.
What a surprise, the camera is completely out of order, no chance to repair it. We will never forget Rocky, it became the most expensive stay on out trip! We have to buy a new camera. As the battery needs to be charged, we spend more time in the shopping mall, buying t- shirts for me ....
Finally we go to Mount Archer, which really is an impressing place, but we flee from thousands of Mosquitos and get stung so often, that I decide I need an insect repellent quickly and urgently.
The Aboriginal Dream Time center is closed, so that we cross the road to have a look at the Heritage Village, which is interesting, as it shows the early beginnings of the settlers.

Doro at school!!

The nice little chapel.

The iron lung in the old hospital.

Don't they look exactly like you, Ise??

The doll museum, the dolls were collected by one lady only and what you see is a small part of the complete collection!
