Bellingen

Our next stop is Bellingen.
On our way we visited a koala hospital, which was not really as exciting as I expected. Next to it was a historic house. But wath is historic in this country? We decided to have a closer look and a nice elderly man led us through Roto House, which was built in 1879 or so. It had been owned and built by a family for three generations. Then, "as there were only girls" the family lost it and it was bought and renovated by the state. Now it is open to the public.

Nice, isn't it? The astonishing thing is, that only a tiny little salt pot is left from the original home, all other items are donations from other persons.

After a two hours drive we arrived at Bellingen, a lovely little town at the Bellinger river.
The B and B is a lovely place, one might think to be in Tuscany, the garden is huge, from the porch we overlook lawns and meadows and have a stunning view up to the mountains.
The house is wonderfully decorated and the doors are always open, in the evening candles light the hallway and the patio.
Now a question to you:
Why does the painting hang to one side, not  straight?

The answer:

The tree frogs come here almost every night!!

We have a delicious breakfast on the porch next morning, then we leave to the rainforest, have lunch at the former butter factory, now there are some nice shops, galleries and a cafe.
In the afternoon w go to the seaside and walk along a cardboard walk, see some fish, very unusual ones, we get to know later and have huge ice cream scoops and then Schnitzel!!! in the evening. We will get fat for sure, but yummy......

This is a work created by school children and artists at the rainforest centre!

So that' s it for today! bye!
